"At New England Review, we knew we could count on Kevin’s generous and discerning assessments of short stories, which came in hundreds of different voices and styles. For more than three years running, he proved himself dedicated, insightful, and utterly reliable."

"Kevin is our go-to freelance editor. He edits with an eye towards clarity and precision--which are both critical in our world of highly technical articles. His work for us is consistently professional, on-time, and above expectations. I’d recommend him to anyone."

Though specific pricing varies somewhat by project, my rates are always consistent with the Editorial Freelancer's Association median rate ranges.
My editorial approach is informed by the many different hats I've worn. Working with student-writers at Eastern Washington University's Writers' Center made me conscientious of root causes and opportunities for improvement (rather than band-aid fixes). My MFA coursework taught me that carefully considering a writer's style and aims are important, empathic steps in the feedback process. Reading submissions for publications like New England Review and Willow Springs helped me understand the wide range of meritorious writing, and helped me differentiate between very good and excellent. Now, as a freelancer working with a range of clients, I aim to help as much as possible while being the least disruptive to the book, article, blog post, or application I'm editing. Mine is a kind of "Leave No Trace" approach that I think best honors the writer's vision and style.
